The Science of Body Armor
John M. McCue
Dr. Ian Lindevald, Faculty Mentor

The development body armor through the ages has benefited from a better knowledge and application of physics. With developments in ammunitions employing ever-increasing power and potency, it has become necessary for the designers of body armor to stronger and more efficient ways to provide protection to wearers. New generations of personal protective items are accomplishing this through new understandings in material science with products such as high-density plastics and the application of ideas from structural engineering to meet modern demands.
