A Study of Two Emerging Markets: The Rise of India and China. Abstract This project will attempt to depict the increasing importance of two emerging markets in global economy; India and China. This project will do so through careful examination of the economic development in the two countries by first looking briefly at the history of their economy, and then at the subsequent events leading to their liberalization of economic systems. The paper first focuses on the Indian economy, the new economic policies in place, the country’s premier stock exchange, and the Mumbai Stock Exchange. In a similar pattern, the paper also examines the economic development in China. In addition, the paper places emphasis on their growing popularity among foreign investors, especially with both countries experiencing consistent significant GDP growth in the past few years. This combined with favorable and more liberalized economic policies being passed by the government, foreign investment is only bound to surge in these two Asian countries.
