King Lear's Deal with the Devil
Daniel W. Conway
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor

King Lear is often considered one of Shakespeare’s greatest works, alongside his other most revered tragedies. This paper will interpret the work as a Faustian parable. Through this analysis, I will attempt to discredit the popular interpretation of King Lear as portraying a nihilistic, godless world. I will then investigate the implications of the parallel with Faustian tragedy.
