The Regional Health Assessment Project (R-HAP) Survey was developed and disseminated to an 11-county area in Northeast Missouri during fall 2005. The purpose of this part of the project was to identify and assess health needs, trends, and utilization of health services in Adair County. Data entry was entered into Excel to create a summary report from 376 surveyed respondents. Respondents identified the following health risks as their top concerns: drug and alcohol use, lack of prenatal care, and obesity. Local health issues included lack of screenings and affordable health services, the need for a community health clinic, and unaffordable health insurance. Respondents indicated that they were unsure if specialized health services were available locally and whether they adequately met community needs. Results of the R-HAP Survey will be important for local health agencies to work to improve health care facilities and health education for Adair County residents.
