Social Attitudes Between Gender Majority and Gender Minority Groups

Star G. Alexander
Dr. Ashley Ramsey, Faculty Mentor

This research looks at the ingroup vs. outgroup attitudes of people in the gender majority and gender minority based on four dimensions of social attitudes: prejudice, acceptance, comfort, and trust. Gender majority is defined as anyone who identifies with the gender that they were assigned at birth; this includes cisgender men and women. Gender minority includes anybody who does not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth; this includes trans men and women, non-binary people, and other genderqueer people. This research contains data that was collected using a survey of students at Truman State University and adults from the general population.
