Determination of additives and contaminants in drinking water in low-income and high-income communities in Missouri
Clean and safe drinking water is essential for human survival, but not everyone has access to clean and non-contaminated drinking water. Environmental Equity is the concept that everyone deserves to live in a healthy environment regardless of race, gender, and social status. This research will explore whether there is environmental equity in the water sources in different communities in Missouri. Water samples will be collected from sink faucets in both low-income and high-income homes in the St. Louis area. The data will be analyzed using ion chromatography and atomic spectroscopy to determine if income-level influences water quality.
