The Impact of COVID-19 Protocols on Communication

In the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on everyone’s lives, but the impact of pandemic protocols on communication is unknown. The purpose of this project is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 protocols on general, academic, and social communication and feelings of connectedness of college students. Responses were obtained from Truman State University students aged 18 years or older. The results of the study regarding communication and feelings of connectedness during pandemic protocols could be beneficial for universities, professors, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and educators. Benefits could include finding alternative ways to ensure communication success, prevent communication breakdowns, and promote feelings of connectedness among peers, instructors, families, and friends.
