The impacts of COVID-19 on the athletic training workforce and workplaces across the globe has been dramatic. The pandemic has affected athletic trainers in a variety of settings from being furloughed to looking for other employment options. This has an effect on the overall profession and patient care. Subjects completed an electronic, originally designed survey to assess employment trends in athletic training. Sixty percent of participants reported that their employment had been affect by COVID-19. Seventy-eight percent reported that there has been a decrease in patients since the 2020 while working in hospital or clinical setting. For certified athletic trainers working at the high school or college level, eighty percent reported that they have had a decrease in patient interactions since the start of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on the athletic training profession including a decrease in patient care and being furloughed for a period of time.
