Ethics and Incentives
The role of incentives in business is very important. People respond to things that motivate them, and it is important for organizations to have practices in place that encourage ethical conduct and behaviors that benefit the corporation. As people are generally self-interested, they will usually act in ways that benefit themselves, which is why the organization needs to have policies that reward ethical behavior. This paper will discuss how incentives and ethics are tied together and impact the health of a company. Additionally, incentives and ethics will be examined with relation to managerial compensation and sales ethics. Companies must put an emphasis on ethical behavior and try to prevent unethical practices. The goal of this research paper is to look at a collection of writings on ethics, incentives, compensation, as well as other topics, and reach a conclusion of what promotes or discourages ethical behavior by managers, CEOs, and employees.
