The Impact of Test Anxiety on College Students
Many college students experience high levels of test anxiety that negatively affect their academic performance and wellbeing. Feelings of self-doubt or worry can lead to excessive negative thoughts and inhibit fear of failure in students. Even though many universities offer mental health services, they are often not utilized by students. While most research has focused on remedies, social factors and academic performance, there is still a need to explain the effects of studying habits, and how these behaviors contribute to test anxiety. Thus, I have conducted a quantitative questionnaire to a sample of Truman students in order to address the following research questions: How do study habits impact test anxiety? How many students are affected by test anxiety? What coping strategies are proving effective for students?
