34th Annual Student Research Conference

Chronological development of major financial ideas with respect to political, socioeconomic, legal, and international environment.

Kristina Krashovats
Prof. Charles Boughton, Faculty Mentor

The purpose of my research is to provide an overview of a sequential emergence of major ideas in finance (1920s to 1970s timeframe) in response to the environment of those days. The intended audience for this research is a financial consumer with limited experience and/or knowledge of real-world finance through the prism of historical influences. In my research I want to divide into decades the years from 1920s until 1970s, and then for each decade describe economic, political, social, environmental, legal environment; issues and pressing problems of the day; major ideas in finance; my thoughts of how the environment and context played a role in the formulation of such a theory.I will provide a source of clear and comprehensive information on this topic to undergraduate level students, business-world enthusiasts, and all those interested in learning about big ideas positioned in a time lapse.
