Filmmaking In Action
Film production has been continuously evolving since its inception. One thing that has remained the same is every aspect of filmmaking is detail-oriented, and much work is required for every frame. Throughout this semester, I have been working through each step of the filmmaking process in order to create a short film. The film is titled Gumshoe. It's about a university student who struggles against the systems of authority in school and life as she attempts to locate her missing roommate. It acts as a commentary on mental health issues prevalent on college campuses, and it also focuses on a misplaced romanticism about old-fashioned American morals.
Through storytelling, screenwriting, lighting, audio, filming and editing, I have learned just how inventive and creative every aspect of filmmaking needs to be in order to tell a great story.
