Adventures from Argonne

Sulfate esters, molecules relevant to atmospheric chemistry and pollution, were crystallized for X-ray analysis at Argonne National Lab (ANL). ANL possesses an Advanced Photon Source for obtaining high-precision structural data. The trip to ANL allowed hands-on work with instruments unique to the facility, thus making it a rare opportunity for undergraduate students of any university. Discussion topics will include the implications of obtained data as well as the experience of working at a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory.
