"Click it or Ticket": My Experience with the Police
David Robinson
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor
Only thirty seconds away from my home, I was stopped by two police officers. I was dragged out of my vehicle and held firmly against it while one of them searched my car, saying, "I know he's got something!" The fear and humiliation I felt has stayed with me. This essay will examine the institutionalization of racial profiling and look at the ways in which those entrusted with law enforcement act with impunity. Every time I step into the streets of St. Louis I fear that something similar may happen with worse consequences, wondering whether my life is next.
