Drama genre movies and characters with any disability have a long history. However, the stories of those characters always focus on their disability. In 2015, I read an article about a woman who watched the movie Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and she felt for the first time she could identify with the main female character of this movie. This woman and the character of the movie, Imperiator Furiosa, shared the same disability. Nevertheless, the character was not presented as a pitiful character. I am going to explore and exemplify, using Mad Max: Fury Road and some of the most famous movies with characters with disabilities like in Forrest Gump (1994) and the Intouchables (2011), why movie characters must promote normalcy instead of promoting a sense of sadness toward any disability comparing the feeling of the audience toward those characters.
