Does Romeo and Juliet Remain the Same Story When Modernized?

This paper will examine two modern adaptations of Romeo and Juliet. Using West Side Story and Gnomeo and Juliet, this paper will compare the themes of love, masculinity, violence, and innocence to see if these themes change or are lost when the story is modernized too much.
