On behalf of the Bulldog Student Investment Fund, this research provides an equity analysis of Halliburton. The report evaluates long-term investment in Halliburton as well as determining if the investment is acceptable for the BSIF portfolio. Noticing the recent decline in oil prices, the team realized an opportunity in the energy sector. Initially, the team selected Halliburton because of its competitive valuation ratios and favorable trends identified in different qualitative and quantitative approaches such as a SWOT analysis and the Porters Five Forces model. The report examines the merger between Halliburton and Baker Hughes and other strategic initiatives. The team then used a multiple valuation to determine the value of the share price of Halliburton compared to the current share price. The team concluded that Halliburton would have a positive impact on the BSIF portfolio as the current stock price is undervalued and Halliburton has many encouraging qualitative characteristics.
