Equity Analysis of Microsoft Corporation
Bulldog Student Investment Fund*, Molly McGraw, Philip Eckert, Timothy Hudson, and Drew Roby
Prof. Charles Boughton, Faculty Mentor

On behalf of the Bulldog Student Investment Fund, this research presentation summarizes an analysis of the technology sector and an equity valuation for Microsoft Corporation. A comprehensive top-down evaluation of the business software and services industry supported guidance that the counter-cyclicality of an established software development company could be a defensive complement to the Funds existing portfolio. In the equity valuation of the company, fundamentals analysis and discounted cash flow modeling further contributed to the investment thesis that Microsoft is an attractive long-term portfolio addition that aligns with the Funds investment horizon period of 1-3 years. Microsofts current competitive positioning, infrastructure, and market salience indicate that further shareholder value will be created; this is consequently reflected in the teams estimated target price.
