Natural Resource Distribution Between Israel and Palestinian Territories

This presentation looks at land ownership and water distribution in Israel and the Palestinian territories. I offer an overview of the creation of the Jewish state and how parts of Palestine have come to be controlled by the Israeli government. The Israeli and Palestinian populations nearly equal each other at 5 million apiece, but Israel controls over 70% of the water. Israel has caused the displacement of over 1 million Palestinians, and has broken International law by building settlements in previously owned Palestinian territory. I draw from David Harveys concept of Accumulation by Dispossession to argue that Israel wants to rid the Palestinians of their land, so that they can reap the benefits of the fertile crescent, without having to live alongside their Palestinian neighbors.
