Clinician Impressions of Using QR Materials in Therapy

Last year, a volunteer communication disorders student research group developed Quick Response (QR) codes that immediately direct the user to online materials such as videos and pictures that illustrate frequently occurring speech and language therapy targets (e.g., action verbs, emotions, etc.). Any free QR code scanning app for smart phones or tablets can activate the QR codes and show the materials. Free QR code materials and directions for making QR codes are on the group's clinical technology website at https://sites.google.com/a/truman.edu/cmdsipadresources/. The current project surveyed student clinicians about their initial experiences using QR materials in therapy. This was not a treatment experiment, but rather a preliminary study to gather information about how the materials were perceived and how they might be improved from a clinician's perspective. Results of the survey will be presented.
