Spirituality and Death Rituals in the Filipino Culture
Kelsey L. Dreiling
Dr. Stephen Hadwiger, Faculty Mentor

The purpose of this secondary analysis of cultural assessments of Filipino nursing students was to compare the commonalities and variations in cultural traits for the cultural domains of spirituality and death rituals. A qualitative template analysis was conducted from 25 cultural assessments of Filipino nursing students. Cultural traits reported by the informants were quantitatively and qualitatively compared across all 25 informants for the two cultural domains of spirituality and death rituals. Representing the variability and commonality of cultural traits reduces the risk of stereotyping when referring to cultural beliefs and practices among Filipino nursing students.
