Restrictions in Sport for Deaf Teenagers

It is hard enough to relate to an athlete and how much pressure they deal with in training and in competition. For people who can hear, it is impossible to imagine what it is like to hear silence while playing a sport on top of dealing with the pressure as an athlete. Some struggles deaf athletes may face: communication barriers with other teammates or the coaches, equipment challenges such as helmets specialized for hearing aids or Cochlear Implants, or have a second delay by not hearing the starters gun. I am deaf and I have a Cochlear Implant. I have overcome the obstacles I have faced when I played a sport in high school. There are other deaf teen athletes that have a similar story as I do. Deaf teenagers are able to do anything except to hear.
