Exploitation of Migrant Workers in Milan, MO
Miranda Cooper
Dr. Anton Daughters, Faculty Mentor

The issue of immigration has been a long-debated topic in the United States. More specifically, Hispanic immigrants have been in the spotlight for much of the last 90 years. The purpose of this research has been to learn more about the Hispanic immigrant population in Milan, Missouri, just 30 miles west of Kirksville. This poster explains issues of community integration, workers rights, and the impacts of the meat processing plant on jobs and health. It highlights the Center for New Community, an organization focused on educating migrants on their rights as workers and empowering them to take a stand against unfair treatment.
