Practical Use of Art Historical Research
Anna Selle
Dr. Sara Orel, Faculty Mentor
For ART 428: Museum Studies, a class designed to educate students from varying academic backgrounds about aspects of working in a museum, I was given the opportunity to create a final project unlike anything I've done in my undergraduate career. Using extensive research conducted by another member of the class, I constructed an architectural walking tour of campus that utilized a pamphlet with QR codes and walking instructions, and a Google site with detailed architectural and historical information about the buildings that acted as stops on the tour. The project required us to apply the traditional art historical research that we would typically do in class with a practical use that could potentially be utilized by the university for public relations or admissions office material. I will also be presenting this as part of a panel led by Dr. Orel at the national conference of the Council of Undergraduate Research.
