Green Revolving Fund and the Potential Uses

Environmental concerns are interdisciplinary in nature, and usually costly to remediate. To overcome financial roadblocks of addressing environmental concerns at Truman State University, a Green Revolving Fund (GRF) should be implemented. A GRF is a self-sustaining internal fund of the university that would provide finances for environmental projects. The fund would be generated from a student fee. The amount of the fee would be determined based on student input. Potential projects that could be funded from the GRF include: establishing additional sources of sustainable energy (i.e. solar and wind power), reinitiating glass recycling on campus, and installing more water bottle filling stations across campus. Funded projects would be approved by surveyed students of Truman State University, and would aid in the reduction of the carbon footprint of the campus.
