The Hardest Thing I Have Ever Done
Sarah L. Chabot
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor
Taylor and I met in the eighth grade and soon we were best friends. Suddenly, sophomore year I was the only one Taylor would talk to and she would frequently get upset if I hung out with any of my other friends. Before long, our friendship became a competition and turned into mental abuse. For a year and a half, I put up with her calling me "fat", "ugly" and "stupid". Throughout my life I had put others feelings before my own. After months of suffering, putting myself first for once in my life was a necessity after slowly growing depressed. Eventually I reached my breaking point and built up the courage to confront her. Everything that happened in those three years took a toll on me. Even though it still affects me to this day, telling her I could no longer be her friend was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
