Construction of a Dichroic Atomic Vapor Laser Lock

We implement a Dichroic Atomic Vapor Laser Lock (DAVLL) system to lock a diode laser to a particular atomic transition frequency. We begin with a previously constructed laser housing and saturated absorption spectrum setup, and work toward locking the laser with the DAVLL method to a transition in the hyperfine atomic spectrum of rubidium. We add the requisite optical components for the DAVLL to the beam path: a cell of Rb gas in an axial magnetic field, a quarterwave plate and a polarizing beam splitter. The two resultant beams are sent to photodiodes, producing an error signal which is input to a feedback circuit that adjusts the frequency of the laser and locks it to that of the transition.
