Melinda K. Gross*, Elizabeth A. Necka, Kristine E. Kastenbaum, and Michaela M. Hoffman
Dr. Michele Breault, Faculty Mentor

As undergraduates progress through college, they plan for life after graduation, which can lead to anxiety about the future. A factor that may influence how much anxiety is experienced and when it peaks is future time orientation. Participants (n=284) completed an online survey which includes the Dieners Subjective Well-being scale, the PANAS scale, Future-Time Perspective scale, Future Anxiety scale. The survey also asks about semesters left until graduation, plans after graduation, and the certainty of these plans. We hypothesize an interaction between Future Time Orientation (FTO) and time before graduation. We expect those with higher FTO feel more anxiety a year before graduation and less the year of graduation, while those with low FTO would feel less anxiety the year before and higher anxiety during their last year. The studys data is currently being analyzed.
