Changes in Small Mammal Community Structure in Two Kirksville, Missouri Habitats from 2013-2019

This research sought to assess the community structure of small mammals in a field and forest in Kirksville, Missouri from 2013-2019. Data was collected from three night long, live trapping excursions in months during both summer and fall seasons. Species abundance and species richness numbers were produced for four months of each year to assess biodiversity. Preliminary assessment found Peromyscus leucopus, the white-footed mouse, to be the most abundant specimen of nine species observed during this time period. P. leucopus was found in each location every month during the study. In some months, P. leucopus was the only species observed.
