Efficiency Enhancement of Organic Photovoltaics through Non-Fullerene Acceptors

Keaton D. Porch
Dr. Rasanjali Jayathissa, Faculty Mentor

We seek to improve the world of renewable energy around us by improving solar panels. Many versions of solar panels are currently being researched; however, organic photovoltaic solar cells (OPVs) seek to be the future through cost-effectiveness, intangible factors, and room for efficiency improvements. This research analyzes the perks of organic photovoltaics, and recognizes its below average efficiency for a solar cell. It shows how the adoption of non-fullerene acceptors helps to solve the problems of other OPVs, and how recent breakthroughs in techniques and the design of non-fullerene acceptors can improve efficiency.
