Jesus Loves Lesbians: The deeper meaning behind Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter

On the surface, the film Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter may appear antichristian and offensive in its portrayal of the peace-seeking Son of God as a vampire hunter, but taking a look beyond this we find a deeper theological context. The pretext of the film is that in Canada, lesbians have begun disappearing--victims of vampires, who hunt lesbians because no one wants them anyway. So God decides that now is the time for the Second Coming, and Jesus’ new mission is to hunt and kill the vampires that prey on the innocent lesbians. This may not seem to harbor deep theological meaning, but within the world of Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter, director Lee Demarbre has created a new, liberal Christ who accepts, adapts, and becomes someone who the next generation can more easily relate to and accept: a superhero.
