Rural Elementary Children and Self-Perception as a Bully or Victim in Relationship to Self-Perceived Variables

The purpose for the current research is to explore three populations: victim, bully, and victim/bully, in relationship to variables. The researcher seeks to better understand characteristics pertaining to each of these three specific populations. The major research question states: what is the relationship between rural elementary students who identify selves as victim, bully, or victim/bully and: scholastic achievement, social acceptance, global self-worth, feelings of depression, parental involvement, and acceptance within class of peers. These variables will be measured using the Victimization and Bullying Scales developed by Austin and Joseph (1996), Harter’s Self-Perception Profile for Children (SPPC: 1994 as well as additional questions added to the questionnaire.
