How does the Environment affect the levels of Serotonin and Dopamine on Norway Rats and Black Rats.

A team of researchers from the National Institution of Mental Health identified a term called “winter depression.” They found this tendency to have seasonal mood and behavior change occur in different degrees, sometimes with mild changes and other times severe mood shifts based on the levels of two neurotransmitters called serotonin and dopamine. Temperature has been known to have a major effect on the brain given that most individuals feel better when it's sunny and nice versus when it’s cold and snowy (Wlassoff, P. (2019). This research is aiming to focus on what specific temperature is significant on the levels of serotonin and dopamine in Norway rats and Black rats. Serotonin inhibits impulsive behavior, while dopamine enhances impulsivity which plays a major role in human’s well-being.The method that will be used is electrochemical detection (ECD) measuring the levels of serotonin and dopamine, to better understand which temperature has a significant impact on your well-being..
