Melodic Motifs in Ketting's Intrada
Otto Ketting’s Intrada is a popular work for unaccompanied horn or trumpet composed in 1958. The piece combines and develops two atonal melodies. These two melodies are embellished, developed, and deconstructed throughout the piece. Ketting’s use of these two melodies makes Intrada a very interesting piece to play and interpret. This session will explore how Ketting’s development of these two melodies influenced the presenter’s interpretation of the piece.
