What Happens When You Mix Sulfuric Acid With Tree Sweat?

John D. Kilian
Dr. Tim Humphry, Faculty Mentor

Atmospheric sulfate esters contribute to global cooling, but more work needs to be done to measure their effects more accurately. Tertiary isoprene sulfate is the most common sulfate ester in the atmosphere. The synthesis of tertiary isoprene sulfate is attempted, with the product to be used as an analytical standard in atmospheric studies.
