The Renaissance of Acadian Culture
Each community has an identity tied to a language. The French-speaking Canadians have their own identity but there is another French-speaking group in this country. The Acadians from the Nova Scotia region have their own language distinct from the Québécois speakers. This group of people has had difficulties like the Great Disruption. In this presentation, the history of this people, their obstacles, and the renaissance of this culture in the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s will be analyzed and discussed in French. With authors like Antonine Maillet, the Acadian literature flourished at the end of the 20th century and revitalized the identity of the Acadian people.
