Through the Glass
For this body of work, I constructed several still lives to display the complexity of simple arrangements. The constructed composition of glass and water distorts and alters the viewers’ perspective of something they may see everyday, yet have not realized how elaborate it can be. I wanted to illustrate water in motion, and the movement the water creates with glass. I displayed this in various angles, complicating the perspective for the viewer. This body of work shows how complex a simple composition of only two objects can look on their own, with light being my main emphasis. The intense lighting creates an unfamiliar vision for the viewer by distorting dramatic shadows. I want this body of work to catch the viewers’ eyes, and make them question the simplicity of still life objects.
