The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Appropriations Act of 1992

Many aspects of American society revolve around the idea that our children are the future. This cultural concept goes on to shape legislation created by the United States government. One illustration of this is the passage of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Appropriations Act of 1992. This deterrent policy was one of many appropriations authorizations that, coupled with amendments, helped to protect America's children and was the outcome of many political actors addressed in Kingdon’s policy streams model as well as Pressman and Wildavsky’s implementation as evolution model. In this work, these models are used to explain the formulation and implementation of the JJDPA of 1992. Additionally, the models themselves are evaluated for their effectiveness in interpreting, and accounting for, the policy outcomes of our governmental system.
