A Parent's Effect on Their Child's Education

58 students at Truman State University were asked to fill out a survey pertaining to whether or not the amount of education their parents have has affected their own feelings towards how much education they hope to obtain through their college years and beyond. The subjects were between the ages of 18 and 22. The surveys were given out during these students’ class time. Every student surveyed had received some type of academic award in high school and many had already received awards during their college career thus far. Many of the students whose parents had higher education stated that they themselves hope to achieve high levels of education in order to have bright futures. Many of them said that putting their parents’ education level aside, they always expected they would go to college and further their education in order to increase their chances of getting a financially stable job in the future.
