A Political Science Model-Based Approach to the Homeland Security Act of 2002

The country’s safety is one of the most important aspects when considering new legislation and considering the possibility of going to war. In effort to protect American lives and soil from terrorism, the United States government passed the Homeland Security Act of 2002. To test the protectionist policy which created an ongoing effect of interactions and efforts within politics, I tested John Kingdon’s policy streams model and Graham Allison’s organizational process model. These models’ were tested on their utility and application of the policy’s formulation and implementation processes of this act based upon their assumptions. This model-based approach examines and reflects the assumptions of the models on the legislation of the Homeland Security Act of 2002.
