The Patron Saint of My Punishment
Jesse L. Bauer
Dr. Hena Ahmad, Faculty Mentor
I felt wronged in my Confirmation class when we were picking Patron Saints. Petrified of snakes and poisonous beings, I picked Saint Hilary, the Patron Saint of Poitiers. It was for this reason my instructor thought I was making a mockery of him and so he sent me to the kitchen in the church house by myself for the rest of the class, and for every class for the next six weeks. I recognized the cruelness and was able to prove the instructor wrong. This essay will examine the detrimental impact of being isolated and punished by way of exclusion.
