Does the Marital Status of Truman Parents Affect their Children's GPAs, Campus Involvement, and Romantic Relationship Statuses?

Using a sample of 137 Truman State University students, data was collected in the form of surveys about the effects of the marital status of the students' parents on their cumulative GPA, campus involvement, and romantic relationships. After collecting the data and running tests through the SPSS program, two of twelve variables were found to be statistically significant. It was found that the older a student is, the more likely they come from a "broken" home where their biological parents are not considered to be together. A majority (80.7%) of those students that considered themselves to be involved had married AND together parents. The results from this study confirm that the marital status of Truman students' parents has an effect on their campus involvement. The findings are discussed more and implications in this study are also presented.
