The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Music Educators
Jacob D. England
Dr. Thomas J. Trimborn, Faculty Mentor
Stephen Covey's popular The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is not only a best-selling self-help book, but has also developed into a popular training program for management positions in the business world. However, the broad principles of Covey's work apply to almost any aspect of life. This study focuses on interviews that identify the habits of six different music educators that teach throughout Missouri from the middle school to collegiate levels. The interviews connect specific functions and goals of real music educators to the general concepts of Covey's book and serve as a guiding principle for future music teachers.
