This study examined the efficacy of learning new information in hypnosis or relaxation states. Participants were either placed in a state of hypnosis, relaxation, or in a control condition. Recall of fifteen GRE words was measured in both immediate and long-term settings to determine the effects of each condition by using one-way ANOVA. The Phenomenology of Consciousness Inventory was used to measure hypnotic depth. The researchers hypothesized that hypnosis will enhance recall the most in both short and long-term settings.
