Concerto in E Minor by Julius Conus

Julius Conus was a Russian violinist and composer, born in Moscow in 1869. He studied at the Moscow conservatory and won its Gold Medal in 1888. He taught and performed in various countries and locaels including Paris, New York City, and Moscow. Conus is known for his skillis in writing long-lined melodies; this is especially apparent in the his E Minor Concerto. It was premiered in Moscow in 1898. It is an effective show peice and has become a staple in Russia. It gained international exposure when Fritz Kreisler first perfomed the Concerto in London in 1904. It was later championed byJascha Heifetz. It was included in his concert repertoire. Conus wrote no other major works.
