Although Truman athletic sports are publicized on multiple media sources, home game attendance is still lacking. Many teams have been successful in the past few years but students are still uninformed about events. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Truman athletics public relations methods by conducting a survey to first-year students. One hundred and eighty-five first-year students (F=119, M=66) were surveyed regarding their knowledge and experience with Truman athletics. Results showed that 76.2% have attended an athletic event, 42.7% visited the athletic website before attending Truman, and only 37.3% have looked at the website as a student. Students commented that they would prefer to be informed of games by posters or emails and they would be motivated to attend if Truman offered more give-a-ways. Results of this study could be used to increase Truman game attendance.
