Skull with Its Lyric Appendage: An Audiovisual Composition
Adam Kalmbach
Dr. Warren Gooch, Faculty Mentor

Skull with Its Lyric Appendage is an audiovisual work which combines electronic composition and stop-motion animation with an unusual and strict formal structure. Several discrete sequences of visual images and sounds are cyclically presented at very high speed, creating a strobe-like superimposition which is broken by sections showing images of a titular skull creature that correspond to the rhythm of the audio. In this presentation, the composer will discuss the processes involved in the creation of this work, which will also be viewed and heard.
