High risk drinking is an important health issue on U.S. college campuses. Truman participates in Missouri’s Partners in Prevention as part of an effort to reduce high risk behaviors. This coalition of 12 Missouri Universities conducts an annual internet survey called the Missouri College Health Behavior Survey. The purpose of this presentation is to describe the results for Truman students (n= 401) from the spring of 2007, the first year of the survey. The results included both encouraging protective behaviors and worrisome high risk behaviors. For example, 85.3% of Truman students who drink have used a designated driver (who consumed no alcohol); however, only 51.5% of those students always do so. Thus there is an important opportunity to educate students who consume alcohol about risk reduction options. Current efforts on campus include social norms messages and promotion of the CHEERS Program, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Transportation.
