Normal Modes of the Indian Elephant Bell
Nathaniel P. Klein
Dr. Mohammad Samiullah, Faculty Mentor
The Indian elephant bell is a classic bell with multiple tines at the end. I will review the theories that have been used to deduce the normal modes of an Indian elephant bell. R. Perrin et al have also performed experiments to test these normal modes. The experimental results were taken using electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI). Overall, the theory compared well with results from the ESPI. Citation: R. Perrin, L. Chalmers, D. P. Elford, G. M. Swallowe, T. R. Moore, J. Accoust. Soc. Am. 131, 3 (2012).
