Factors that Influence Graduate School Plans
Emily L. Gregory* and Jamie Matthews
Dr. Michele Breault, Faculty Mentor

For college students the future includes making many decisions in areas such as education, employment, and personal relationships. To examine factors that influence these plans 99 students completed a questionnaire, which assessed family background, locus of control, value of education, belief in traditional gender roles, and influence of significant other. We hypothesized that while personality variables and values would influence the plans of male and female students equally, family ties and romantic relationships would have more of an effect on the plans of female students as compared to male students.
